February 22, 2020For a large percentage of us, we know how good being in nature can make us feel. The sounds of the forest, the smell of the spruce trees, the sunlight peering through the trees and the fresh, clean air. It gives a sense of comfort. They ease our stress and worry, help us to relax and to think more clearly. Being in nature can restore our mood and rejuvenate us.
This is not exercise, or hiking, or jogging. It is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. By opening our senses, it connects you with a feeling of calmness.
Even a small amount of time in nature can have an impact on our health. A two-hour forest bath will help you to unplug from technology, phones and it will bring you into the present moment and de-stress and relax you. (note: leave the cell phone on silent or off).
Let nature enter through you’re your very inner most senses. Listen to the birds singing and the breeze rustling in the leaves of the trees. Look at the different greens of the trees and the sunlight filtering through the branches. Look for mushrooms and flowers and moss. There is so much being in nature can five for free. Breathe in the natural aromatherapy!
You can forest-bathe anywhere in the world. Wherever there are trees, in hot weather or in cold, in rain, sunshine or snow. You don’t even need a forest. Choose your spot and bath in a place that your mind can be set free to enjoy. Even a roof top garden can offer some of the most exciting opportunities. A hummingbird, butterflies and a very needed honeybee gathering nectar can offer such a wonderful release of what the deepest parts of your mind need. Peace.
